Shared note

The death of Anne Henderson Reeves, on November 16, 2006, at Hospice LaGrange, following a long journey with Alzheimer's Disease, leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Mrs. Reeves was born December 4, 1918, in Villa Rica, daughter of Noah Romer and Clarissa Wardlaw Henderson. She had lived most of her married life in Mobile, Alabama but recently moved to LaGrange where she lived during her high school and college years. She graduated from LaGrange High School and LaGrange College with a BA in Art in 1939. While at LaGrange College, she was on the basketball team, Secretary and Treasurer of the Glee club, French club, on staff for the Forum, and Tri-Hi-Y. She taught elementary school in Douglasville and Commerce, and also taught kindergarten for over 35 years at Wimbleton and St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mobil, Ala. Her deep love of children and her leadership skills were evident in her involvement with her church, her children's activities, and the community. She loved being a child of Christ and it was so evident in the many areas of her life, especially being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to so many. Mrs. Anne Reeves was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Melba Henderson Spears, and her husband of 64 years, Walton T. Reeves. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Reeves Shimp and her husband, Bob, of North Augusta, S. C. and Cathy Reeves Wyckoff of Marietta, four grandchildren, Robert Thomas Shimp and his wife, Kimberly, of LaGrange, William Michael Shimp and his wife, Julie, of St. Augustine, Fla., Sara Elizabeth Breckenridge of Marietta, and Abigail Marie Breckenridge of Marietta, and two great-grandchildren, Robert Michael Shimp of LaGrange, and Macie Elizabeth Shimp of St. Augustine, Fla. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 19, 2006, at 3:00 at StrifflerHamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel with Reverend Greg Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
