Alta was a widow when she married Lawrence Robert Epperson. She shares a tombstone with her first husband, Chester Cole Gray. The Madison County Record, Huntsville, AR, 3 Oct 1996. Mrs. Alta Epperson, 71, of HC 64, Box 60, Pettigrew, Ark., died Sept. 29, 1996, at her home. She was born Sept. 23, 1925, at Pettigrew, the daughter of Bud Enos and Mahala Patrick Ahart. She was a homemaker and the widow of Chester Cole Gray, who preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1974, and of Lawrence Robert Epperson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1981. Survivors include one son, Afton Wayne Gray of Bell Gardens, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Delores Arlene Huffman of Pettigrew; one brother, Clifford Ahart of Huntsville; seven grandsons, James Russell Huffman of Goshen, Michael Dwayne Huffman and Joseph Morris Huffman, both of Pettigrew, Darrell Austin, Orby Austin, Afton Gray and Casey Gray, all of Bell Gardens, Calif.; eight great-grandsons, Justin Wayne Huffman of Pettigrew, Phillip Morgan of Palm Springs, Calif., Blade Edward Huffman of Goshen, Afton Wayne Gray Jr. and Taylor Gray, both of Bell Gardens, Calif., Christopher Gray and Corey Gray, both of Antioch, Calif., and Preston Lee of Wisconsin; and four great-granddaughters, Miss Tosha Lynn Huffman of Pettigrew, Miss Meagan Christine Huffman and Holly Victoria Huffman, both of Goshen, and Miss Susan Bree Gray of Bell Gardens, Calif. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Walker officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery at Saint Paul under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. Pallbearers were James Russell Huffman, Michael Dwayne Huffman, Joseph Morris Huffman, Pete Evans, Ronnie Willhite, and Daniel Engles. |
