C lyde E. May, Jr, of Mesquite, Texas passed away on May 23, 2013. Clyde was born on Sept. 1, 1929 in Greenville, TX to Clyde E. , Sr. and Laura Ellen (Roy) May, both of whom preceded him in death. Clyde was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie Jean May. He graduated from Greenville High School and went on to an accomplished career in education. He met and later married the love of his life, Billie Jean Snelson on Sept. 18, 1948 and were married for 64 years, until her passing in Dec. of 2012. Clyde was also a proud veteran, having served his country in the US Army. He served in the Korean War and was a Purple Heart Recipient. An excellent student with a love of knowledge, he received his Bachelors in Engineering from Texas Christian University, his Masters in Education from North Texas State University and his Administrator's Certificate from East Texas State University. His career in academics began with a teaching position in Algebra at Vanston Middle School. He then went to North Mesquite High School as a Vocational Teacher. He was an Assistant Principal at McDonald Middle School, an Assistant Principal at Galloway Elementary, where he was later promoted to Principal; a position he held until his retirement. Cumulatively, Clyde served the students and his colleagues for over 24 years with Mesquite ISD where his love of life-applied uses of learning and understanding, touched many lives. He is survived by his children: Paula Mejorado and husband, Ray; Roy May and wife, Christy; grandchildren: Michael Mejorado and wife, Holly; Julia Tyndall and husband, Nathan; Brandi May and Justin May; great grandchildren: Briony Mejorado and Callen Tyndall; brother, Dr. Jon May and wife, Sandra as well as several extended family and a host of friends who loved him, respected him and will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, May 31, 2013, at Christian Care Center Chapel, 900 Wiggins Parkway, Mesquite, Texas, 75150, Mr. Ray Hunter officiating. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8pm, Thursday, May 30, at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Terrell. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org. |
