KNOX CITY -- Kenneth D. Bradford Sr., 69, died Sunday at his home after a brief illness. A memorial prayer service was held Monday in Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Chambers officiating. The body will be cremated and burial will be at a later date in Crowell Cemetery. Mr. Bradford was born in Thalia and attended school in Crowell. He married Lorene Henderson in 1949 in Vernon and they owned and operated Owens Auto Supply and City Cleaners in Knox City. He moved to Knox City 41 years ago. He was a past master of the Knox City Masonic Lodge and also was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, of Knox City; three sons, Kenneth Duane Bradford Sr. of Addison, Bennie David Bradford of Knox City and Johnny Lee Bradford of Abilene; two daughters, Carolyn Bettes of Dallas and Yolanda Roberts of Midland; one brother, John Winston Bradford of Shawno, Wisc.; two sisters, Evelyn Balis of Knox City and Bennie Holton of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be sent to Kenneth Bradford Memorial Fund, Citizens Bank, Knox City 79529. Per Clyvia Claxton on Findagrave, "Don't look at the cemetery for Uncle Kenneth because his wife said he was cremated and is in a closet of her home. His obit said he was going to be at Crowell cemetery though."
