Sir Thomas Dymoke was 27 years old when he succeeded his father and is said to have made a conspicuous figure in the reign of Edward IV. His connection with Lord Wells (his father-in-law) created a suspicion that he favoured the Lancastrian interes. This let to his execution (beheaded) before the Battle of Stamford in Northumberland
