LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Memorial services for Olivia McDaniel Carnahan will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006, at 2 p.m. in Blakely Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Mr. Ashby L. Blakely. Born November 4, 1923, in Trenton, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Paul Bryan McDaniel and Dora T. McDaniel. S he attended East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., formerly known as East Carolina Teacher's College. She went to New York with her three brothers and worked for a large advertising firm until her marriage to Rand Granville Carnahan from Nantucket, Mass. Mrs. Carnahan was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 45 years. Active in community affairs and church activities, she was also a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and nursery school teacher. She resided in Long Island, N.Y., until her death and was a beloved mother and grandmother. Surviving are two children, Martha Carnahan Goforth and her husband, Dennis Ray, of Boiling Springs, S.C., (formerly of Gaffney) and Rand Granville Carnahan Jr. and his wife, Gladys, of New York; five grandchildren, including Kent Goforth of California and Cathy Goforth Lippincott of Charlotte; and five greatgrandchildren.
