Edmund Dillahunty purchased land in Maury Co, TN, from Patrick Maguire (Maury County Deeds & Mortgages, 1807-1843, Volume 1, page 185). He is included in the Maury Co, TN, census for 1830, 1840 & 1850.

During 1844-45, Edmund Dillahunty, a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge, was the 18th Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee Free and Accepted Masons, Nashville, TN, and is attributed to have given a moving and eloquent tribute to former President Andrew Jackson (a Grand Lodge member) after the latter's death. An oil on canvas portrait of Edmund Dillahunty, created abt 1844-45, is in the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Nashville, TN (100 7th Aveune North, 37203. Tel: 615-255-6525).

On 15 Oct 1845, Edmund Dillahunty delivered an address to the students of Franklin College, Nashville, Davidson, TN. On 21 Oct 1846 he delivered an address to the the Sons of Temperance in Nashville, TN. In Jul 1848 he delivered an opinion in the Supreme Moot Court of Cumberland University, Lebanon, TN.

From "History of Tennessee" published by Goodspeed Publishing Comapny in 1886 in a section on the Cours of Marshall Co, TN. Judge Edmund Dillahunty, of Columbia, sat upon the bench from 1836 to 1852. He was a man of fine personal appearance, benevolent in demeanor and of high moral character. His court was a "temple of moral training," and dignified decorum was required at his bar. He was a fine lawyer and an excellent judge. "His charges to the juries were always sermons," and aside from his official duties he often gave the people of Lewisburg lectures on morality and religion.
