Franklin Silas Horton taught school in Linn County, MO after his marriage to Bertha May Bushnell. This was between the years 1898 and 1900 when he removed with Berth to Washington probably in pursuit of land. He became a real estate person, and soon after moved to Hope, AR where he became owner and operator of a silent movie theatre the Alice. It later burned down. He also owned and operated a theatre in Nashville, which was run by his son Franklin Mosa Horton. He lost his theatres about the time of the 1929 crash. During the time he taught school, he had as students his two younger sisters-in law, Ruth Irene and Pauline. Pauline was too young to attend school but was allowed to go with her sister, Ruth. She curled up in a corner during the lessons and went to sleep until time to go home. He and Bertha eloped and were married in Cameron, MO on 3 Oct 1898.
